Micha Brendel was a founding member of the legendary performance group "Auto-Perforations-Artists" (together with Else Gabriel, Via Lewandowsky and Rainer Görss), whose radical actions and performances made them part of the avant-garde of the non-conformist art scene in the GDR. Photographs by the painter, conceptual and action artist have also been shown in 2012 in the exhibition "Geschlossene Gesellschaft - Künstlerische Fotografie in der DDR 1949-1989" at the Berlinische Galerie and as part of the GDR art exhibition "Gegenstimmen" (Voices of Dissent) at the Martin-Gropius-Bau in Berlin (2016). 2019 Participation in the exhibition "Point of No Return. Wende und Umbruch in der ostdeutschen Kunst" at the Museum der Bildenden Künste Leipzig.
