Rainer Görß was a member of the legendary artist's group "Autoperforationsartisten" (together with Else Gabriel, Via Lewandowsky and Micha Brendel), whose radical performances made them part of the avant-garde of the non-conformist art scene in the GDR. Works by the photographer, conceptual and action artist were also shown in the GDR art exhibition "Gegenstimmen" (Voices of Dissent) at the Martin-Gropius-Bau in Berlin (2016) and in the exhibition "Point of No Return. Wende und Umbruch in der ostdeutschen Kunst" at the Museum der Bildenden Künste Leipzig (2019).
