Carlfriedrich Claus, an important avant-garde artist in the GDR, was a co-founder of the artist group and producer gallery "Clara Mosch" in Karl-Marx-Stadt in 1977, which was classified as subversive by the GDR state security. In 2005, CF Claus' inter-media art has been shown in the comprehensive exhibition "Schrift, Zeichen, Geste: Carlfriedrich Claus im Kontext von Klee bis Pollock" at the Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz. In 2019, CF Claus was also represented in the exhibition "Utopie und Untergang" at the Kunstpalast Düsseldorf.
